Is a trampoline intended for adults?

 In Trampolines

Trampolining is the ideal way for children to play outside and release their energy. Yet there are some adults who also like to jump the trampoline. If not for the tricks, then for a workout. There are also fathers, mothers, grandfathers, and grandmothers who want to jump with their (grand)child. But is that even possible? We will explain it to you in detail!

If you’re planning on buying a trampoline and you have the ambition to jump with your child, it’s important to look closely at the maximum user weight of the trampoline. For small trampolines, like our Etan Hi-Flyer 08ft / 244cm, the maximum user weight should be 50kg. For larger trampolines, starting with our 10ft / 305 cm models, the user weight is determined through testing, but also through the length and quality of the springs. For example, the user weight of the Etan Hi-Flyer trampoline with net 427 cm / 14ft is already 100kg and the user weight of the Etan Premium inground trampoline 1075 / 310 x 232 cm is no less than 150kg.

The shape of the trampoline is also an important aspect. Round trampolines have a central jumping point. The central jumping point is exactly in the center of the trampoline jumping mat because all trampoline springs point towards this exact point. In the case of a rectangular trampoline, this is not the case and you can jump on the entire trampoline jumping mat just fine. However, you do have to deal with the ‘launch effect’ here. This means that with every jump, you get a light push to the other side of the trampoline. The springs on the side of the jumper have to work harder than the springs on the other side.

The last tip we want to give you is the bigger, the better. If you want to jump on the trampoline with your (grand)child, there should of course be enough space for both jumpers. The bigger the jumping surface, the more space you have available for each jumper. That’s why we advise you to look for a 12ft trampoline, a 14ft trampoline, or a large rectangular trampoline. In addition, the larger sizes of the Etan UltraFlat trampolines are of course also perfect to jump on as an adult.
