Thinking about buying a ground-level trampoline? The sleekest and safest trampoline for your garden!

A ground-level trampoline – also known as a flush trampoline or a flat to the ground trampoline – is the ultimate choice if you’re after a trampoline that blends seamlessly into your garden. With these trampolines, the jumping area sits perfectly flush with the grass or patio, with no raised edges or high steps. The result? A safe, stylish, and professional look.

At Etan Trampolines, you can choose from two premium models within the ground-level trampoline range: the Etan UltraFlat and the Etan PremiumFlat. Each model has its own unique advantages, depending on who’s jumping – from young kids to seasoned freestylers.

What is a ground-level trampoline?

A ground-level trampoline is a trampoline that’s completely dug into the ground, with the frame fully hidden below surface level. Unlike an Inground trampoline (where the frame sits above the pit), a flush trampoline has its entire frame placed underground. This means the trampoline sits exactly at lawn height – hence the name “ground-level”.

The benefits aren’t just aesthetic, but also practical and safe: there’s no need for a step-up, and the risk of falling from height is minimal.

A range of sizes for every garden

The Etan UltraFlat and Etan PremiumFlat trampolines come in a variety of sizes, so there’s always a model that fits your garden and jumping needs. Whether you’re after a small trampoline for a compact city garden or a big trampoline for more intense use – Etan always has the right ground-level trampoline for you. The UltraFlat is available in professional rectangular trampoline sizes like 366 x 294 cm and 414 x 366 cm, ideal for sporty jumpers. The UltraFlat line also includes square trampolines, such as 294 x 294 cm. The PremiumFlat comes in popular sizes like 281 x 201 cm and 310 x 232 cm, or round trampolines such as the trampoline 305 cm – perfect for everyday use by children. This way, you can easily match your choice to your available space and skill level.

What should you consider when buying a ground-level trampoline?

Buying a ground-level trampoline is more than just clicking “order”. This type of trampoline requires some proper preparation and installation. Here are the key things to keep in mind:

1. Digging the right pit

A trampoline that sits flush with the grass needs a different digging method than a regular trampoline in the ground. For this model, you should:

  • First dig a pit the size of the entire frame, so the full steel frame disappears below ground.

  • Then dig a bowl-shaped pit underneath the trampoline jumping mat to allow proper air displacement when jumping.

Keep in mind that you’ll need to remove a lot more soil than with a standard sunken trampoline.

2. Enough space around it

Make sure there’s enough space around the trampoline for safe use. Even though the Etan PremiumFlat and Etan UltraFlat trampolines come with a 3 cm thick trampoline safety pad, we recommend keeping about 1 metre of free space around the trampoline. This area should have a soft surface, like grass. Bark chips are also a great option. Since a ground-level trampoline doesn’t have a trampoline safety net, this is especially important!

3. Ventilation and airflow

One thing people often forget is the air that moves underneath the mat with each jump. Without proper airflow, the trampoline won’t perform well. Luckily, Etan’s flush trampolines come with the Etan OptiFlow trampoline jumping mat. This mat is air-permeable, making it perfect for flat to the ground trampolines. Because the displaced air can easily escape above the trampoline, jumpers enjoy a fantastic bounce!

Digging it in? Leave it to us!

Digging in a ground-level trampoline is quite a job. That’s why Etan Trampolines offers a professional trampoline dig-in service. We can:

  • Dig the entire pit for you

  • Install the wall structure

  • Fully assemble the trampoline

That way, you’re guaranteed a safe and tidy installation – no hassle.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of inground trampolines are there?

We define 2 types of inground trampolines:

  1. Inground trampoline – the legs sit at ground level, with the trampoline sticking out about 20 cm.
  2. Flat-to-the-ground trampoline – the frame is completely flush with the ground.

What should you pay attention to when buying a trampoline?

Before buying a trampoline, it’s important to consider who will use it, how intensively it will be used, and how long you want it to last. Experience shows that relatively cheap trampolines typically last only 2–3 years due to the materials and build quality, and their safety decreases quickly because of wear, rust, and breakage.

Key things to look for:

  • Frame: steel thickness, galvanisation, and construction.
  • Springs: length, type (e.g., conical), and rust resistance.
  • Jumping mat: airflow, coating thickness, spring-overlays, and stitching quality.
  • Safety pad: foam thickness and width, PVC thickness, and how well it closes around the frame.
  • Safety: safety net, solid connections, certifications.
  • Warranty: good warranties on the frame, springs, and mat indicate higher quality.

Is it a lot of work to dig in a trampoline?

Yes. Digging in a trampoline takes quite some work. An inground trampoline (20 cm above ground) is easier to install than a Flat-to-the-Ground trampoline. Most of the effort goes into digging the hole and backfilling the soil. Assembling the trampoline itself usually takes 1–2 hours, depending on the type, size, and whether a safety net is included.

Who can dig in my trampoline?

Some trampoline suppliers offer a trampoline dig-in service. Since they are often the supplier or even the manufacturer, they usually know the installation best – so they’re often your best bet. There are also plenty of gardeners who can handle the (digging) work for you.

Note: Installing a trampoline isn’t just digging a hole. Make sure you check how someone plans to install your trampoline. When in doubt, contact your trampoline supplier.

Why choose an Etan Premium trampoline?

An Etan Premium trampoline gives fun, quality, durability, and looks great too! Not just for a few years – these trampolines are made to provide years of enjoyment. They are produced in Europe, feature strong safety pads, durable jumping mats, and unique safety solutions.

What is OptiFlow?

OptiFlow is a trampoline mat specially designed by Etan for maximum airflow. The open-weave structure lets air escape much faster than a standard permatron mat, resulting in smoother jumps, more control, and less resistance.
