Five absolute don'ts when using your trampoline!

Five absolute don'ts when using your trampoline!

07-11-2025

Trampoline jumping is fun, healthy, and popular among both children and adults. More and more parents are discovering the joy and benefits of trampoline jumping for their families. But did you know there are also a number of things you should absolutely not do on a trampoline? To ensure safe and responsible jumping, we at Etan Trampolines have listed the five most important trampoline don’ts for you.

1. Do not allow pets on your trampoline

It may sound cozy to jump on the trampoline with your dog or rabbit, but this can be dangerous. Jumping on a trampoline is not good for your pet’s muscles and joints and can damage the trampoline jumping mat and the trampoline safety pad. Sharp claws can cause tears or holes, which may result in repair costs. For the safety of your children and your trampoline: no pets on the trampoline!

2. Always use a trampoline safety net with an above-ground trampoline

A trampoline safety net is not a luxury but essential. Nowadays, it is mandatory that above-ground trampolines are sold with a safety net – and for good reason. Without a net, the risk of accidents is high, especially for children, who can unexpectedly fall off the trampoline.

Even with inground trampolines, a safety net can be a wise choice. It keeps uninvited guests away and prevents jumpers from landing outside the trampoline area. Safety first!

3. Do not jump with too many people at once

Jumping with friends is fun, but having several people on the trampoline at the same time can be dangerous. Due to the launching effect, you may lose balance unexpectedly or collide with each other. This effect is especially present on a rectangular trampoline. To prevent accidents: let everyone take turns and enjoy your trampoline safely.

4. Always assemble your trampoline correctly

Correct assembly is crucial for safety and jumping enjoyment. Always follow the manual step by step or watch the instruction videos on our website or YouTube channel. Do you have an Etan trampoline? Then you will find the right instruction video on the product page of your trampoline. Prefer the work done by professionals? 5. Do not leave your trampoline outside during stormy weather

During stormy weather, a trampoline can become damaged or even blow away. Above-ground trampolines are especially vulnerable. Protect your trampoline by:

Is a storm expected for multiple days? Then consider temporarily dismantling the trampoline and assembling it again afterwards. This keeps your trampoline safe and in top condition.

Extra tip: Don’t eat or drink on the trampoline

Eating or drinking on the trampoline may seem harmless, but it can create dangerous situations. While jumping, you can easily choke or spill a drink, which can make the trampoline slippery. Crumbs, food leftovers or sticky drinks can also attract dirt and insects. For a safe trampoline experience, it’s better to step off the trampoline first when you want to eat or drink. That way jumping stays safe and your trampoline remains clean and in good condition.

FAQ's

What is the best way to anchor a trampoline against wind?

Correctly anchoring a trampoline is essential to prevent it from being blown away in strong winds. Always use a high-quality trampoline anchoring kit, which includes ground anchors or stakes that are driven deep into the ground. For added stability, you can combine the trampoline with a protective cover and temporarily remove the safety net during stormy weather. This will keep your trampoline firmly in place and extend the lifespan of the jumping mat and frame.

How do you prevent injuries when trampoline jumping for children?

Injuries on the trampoline often occur due to collisions or improper jumping technique. Make sure children always jump alone or with just one friend at a time, use a trampoline safety net, and keep sharp objects away. It’s also wise to teach children how to land and jump safely. With these precautions, you can enjoy safe trampoline jumping while significantly reducing the risk of sprains or falls.

Is an inground trampoline safer than an above-ground trampoline

Inground trampolines often have a lower fall risk because the jumping mat is closer to the ground. However, a safety net is still recommended, especially for young children or when multiple people are jumping at the same time. The main difference lies in comfort and aesthetics: inground trampolines blend better into the garden, but safety should always remain the top priority.

How do you maintain a trampoline to make it last longer?

Proper maintenance extends the lifespan of your trampoline. Regularly check the jumping mat, springs, and frame for wear or tears. Clean the trampoline with a soft brush and water, and protect it during bad weather with a trampoline cover. A trampoline that stays dry and sturdy not only offers more safety but also provides years of jumping fun.

Which safety accessories are a must for a trampoline?

Safety on the trampoline starts with the right accessories. A trampoline safetynet prevents falls, while a safety pad covers the edges of the trampoline and reduces the risk of injury. Additionally, an anchoring kit is essential to keep the trampoline securely in place during windy conditions. Optionally, a trampoline cover can help protect the jumping mat from the weather and UV radiation. Together, these accessories form the foundation for responsible and long-lasting trampoline jumping.
